Mrs. Paula McKinnon
School Counselor- Prefect K - Law & Society
Mrs. McKinnon is originally from a small town near Boston, Mass. but has lived in Manhattan for many years. She attended Boston College where she majored in English and Psychology and moved to New York to attend acting school. After hitting the pavement for many years, she decided to become an elementary school teacher and then proceeded on to become a guidance counselor. She attended Fordham University to obtain her master’s degree in counseling psychology and has really enjoyed working with adolescents and helping them deal with the challenges of this time of their life. She credits a disinterested guidance counselor for inspiring her to pursue this line of work. Mrs. McKinnon is married with one son who just graduated college. She recently has taken up bicycling and loves to go to the movies to de-stress. Her favorite quote is “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”! She finds this is inspirational to many students, especially during the grueling college process. She looks forward to working with your children and is very excited to be a part of the Brooklyn Tech Guidance Team.
