Mr. Johnny A. Ventura
Assistant Principal of Visual Arts
With 15 years of experience serving young people in New York City public schools in various capacities, Mr. Ventura has a wealth of experience and expertise in observing systems and structures in place and executing practices that best support all members of the school community.
He’s a firm believer in the true definition of what it means to be an authentic leader in and outside of the classroom. And with that, he has had the pleasure of leading a multitude of teams in schools that have produced positive results in graduation and attendance rates, discipline, culture, and instruction. Additionally, he’s committed to addressing issues related to the lack of diversity and equity in schools. Thus, he has assisted as well as developed and led a number of special programs geared towards exposing underrepresented groups to the power of S.T.E.A.M education.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Africana Studies from Binghamton University, a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling with an advanced certificate in Family Therapy from Mercy College, and a Master of Education in School Building Leadership from Bank Street College’s Principal Institute. He has a national certification in crisis intervention and has done some post graduate work at the Albert Ellis Institute in Manhattan.
