Engineers Down Midwood, Behind Efforts of Senior Hurler and Hitter
Brooklyn Tech rode the commanding pitching of senior right-hander Jackson Morris and the timely hitting of senior first baseman Boubacar Basse to a 2-0 victory over Midwood at Brooklyn’s Parade Ground on Wednesday. The win improved Tech’s record in the PSAL AAA Southeastern Division to 2-1. For more info click headline.Morris, fresh off a win in Tech’s AAA opener over Lincoln last week, baffled a dangerous Midwood lineup to earn his second straight complete-game victory in two league outings. The senior hurler, committed to Case Western Reserve University, struck out ten and allowed just three hits. Basse provided all the offense Tech would need when he singled home two runs in the first inning. Tech’s defense then backed Morris up to help secure the win, most notably when junior second baseman Matteo Mallino showed off his range to rob several Midwood hitters. The win was Tech’s second home victory in as many games against division foes, in its first season since being promoted to the PSAL’s AAA level. Tech will seek to complete a season sweep of its borough rivals when they visit Midwood at McGuire Park in Bergen Beach on Friday 3/29.
