BOYS & GIRLS INDOOR TRACK

Great news from the Ft. Washington Armory this past Sunday! The BTHS Boys defended their PSAL Brooklyn Borough title by lapping 2nd place Benjamin Banneker Academy 160 team points to 60. The Girls took 2nd place for the 2nd consecutive year, edged out by Paul Robeson Campus High School. Congratulations to both teams, to Coaches Taylor and Clarke and good luck to the Engineers as they vie for the PSAL City Title next Saturday. Please click the title for highlights. GO ENGINEERS!

Boys highlights:
 
1.        In the 1600m, BTHS swept 1st through 5th place with Evan Sherman ('19), Parker Straight ('19), Dylan Canales ('20), Konstantin Van Schendel ('19) and Otto Horiuchi ('20) hauling in 30 team points
2.        Obrian Rosario ('20) competed in three events in the span of 20 minutes: 55m dash, 300m dash and took 2nd in the Long Jump -- scoring 7 points for the team
3.        In the 4x800m relay, BTHS swept 1st through 3rd place with the A-team [Straight, Sherman, Canales & Christian Nicolas ('20)], the B-team [Horiuchi, Peja Breuler ('19), Isaac Stamper ('19) & Eric Xue ('20)], the C-team [Sophomores Patrick Dicus, Marcus Scott, Andrew Smith & Jacob Koziej] compiling 24 team points
4.   Canales and Breuler went 1st & 2nd in the 3200m run
5.       Bishopp Boutin ('19) also competed in three events, taking 3rd in the 55m High Hurdles (6 team points), 2nd in the High Jump (8 team points) and anchored the 3rd place 4x400m relay (6 points)
6.   The Engineers took 2nd through 5th place in the 1000m run with Merlin Beaufils ('19), Nicolas, Scott and Breuler respectively earning 20 team points
7.   Another 1st-2nd-3rd sweep for the Engineers in the Pole Vault where Van Schendel, Yehia Ellis ('19) and Beaufils picked up 24 points for the team.

Girls highlights:
7. Amira Dixon ('20) set a Personal Record in the 55m High Hurdles (9.72 secs) and took 2nd place earning 8 points for the team
8. BTHS dominated the 1500m run taking 1st through 7th place (and all 31 possible points) led by 1st place Lucinda Doogan ('20) followed by Christy Huyhn ('20), Chloe Isip ('20), Isabella Greyser ('21), Farah Osman ('22), Vivianne Navarrete ('21) and Isabelle Fitch ('20)
9. Continuing their run on the distance events, BTHS swept 1st through 4th place in the 3000m run, again led by Doogan, Huyhn, Osman and Maya Almawadi ('21)
10.   And completing her Brooklyn Borough "triple crown" Doogan anchored the 1st place A-Team 4x800m relay with Huyhn, Greyser and Obadia; taking 2nd place was the C-Team: Isabell Fitch ('20), Vivianne Navarrete ('21), Candace Polisi ('19) and Juliet Gottfried ('19).

The Engineers move on to the PSAL City Championship next Saturday morning (2/16/19) at the Ft. Washington Ave. Armory in northern Manhattan where the Boys will attempt to dethrone S.I. Susan Wagner HS while the Girls battle Paul Robeson Campus High School and the other borough schools.
