BOYS & GIRLS INDOOR TRACK

The 2018-19 Boys & Girls indoor track teams traveled to Staten Island for the Bishop Loughlin games and their 1st indoor meet of the winter at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex this past weekend. For more info click headline.

The 2018-19 Boys & Girls indoor track teams traveled to Staten Island for the Bishop Loughlin games and their 1st indoor meet of the winter at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex this past weekend.  

The meet was represented by not only the PSAL but NYC Catholic and Private schools as well as elite out-of-state track teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Upstate New York, Long Island and Rhode Island.

On Saturday (12/15/18) the Boys team got off to a fast start with Evan Sherman ('19) taking 1st place in the 2 mile invitational event with a time of 9:28.70 -- five seconds ahead of 2nd place and setting a P/R.

Other Boys highlights include:

1.  Juniors Dylan Canales (2:39.88) and Otto Horiuchi (2:46.05) qualifying for the PSAL City Finals in the 1000m race.

2.  The Varsity 4x800m relay team qualifying for the PSAL CIty Finals by lowering their season's best time by 17 seconds (8:22.09).  Sherman took the 3rd leg baton in last place but moved up to 4th and handed it to anchor Astor Meredith-Goujon ('19) who brought home a 3rd place finish for the Engineers.
3.  The Varsity 4x400m relay team, DeQuane Nealy ('20), Bishopp Boutin ('19), Mateusz Czajkowski ('19) & Sufiyan Sarguroh ('19) finishing 6th and also qualifying for the PSAL City Finals with a 3:35.25 time.

On Sunday (12/16/18) Lucinda Doogan ('20) qualified for the PSAL City Finals in the 2 mile event as well as setting a P/R with a 6th place finishing time of 11:33.51.  

Other Girls highlights include:

4.  In the 1000m event, Christy Huynh ('20) set a P/R and also qualified for the PSAL City Finals with a time of 3:14.36 good enough for 7th place.  Her classmate, Astrid Obadia finished in 15th place at 3:22.03.
5.  In the varsity 4x800m relay, Doogan, Isabella Greyser ('21), Obadia and Huynh qualified for the PSAL City Finals with a 10:06.49 and a 7th place finish.

The Engineers continue their campaign to the PSAL Borough and City Championships with a pre-holiday "Day of Distance" meet on Saturday, 12/22/18 and the "PSAL Holiday Classic" on Thursday 12/27/18, both at the Manhattan Armory.
