Junior Bishopp Boutin and Senior Anu Akil each won the City Championship in the pentathlon and represented the PSAL for both genders at the State Meet. The girls 4x800m relay consisted of Sophomore Lucinda Doogan, Junior Juliet Gottfried, and Seniors Aziza Chigatayeva and Kelsey Damier, with alternates Candace Polisi and Christy Huynh.
Junior Evan Sherman capped off an incredible year of competition with a 6th place finish in the 3200m run, earning All-State honors!
But the weekend belonged to Senior Aziza Chigatayeva. She competed in the 2000m Steeplechase after winning the PSAL City Championship for the second year in a row. Last year, as a junior, she finished 6th in the state for All-State honors. This year, she was more determined than ever, and not only did she win the race to become State Champion, she did so in an incredible time of 6:43.04 - good enough to be not only a new school record, not only a new PSAL record, but that is a new record for any girl competing from any school (public, private, Catholic, etc.) in all of New York City! Aziza will be traveling to North Carolina this upcoming weekend to compete at Outdoor Nationals, where she looks to improve on a 5th place finish from last year which earned her the title of All-American. She will be in contention for a National Champion title! Go Aziza!
